The vicinity of Landgoed Het Grote Zand is an excellent area to spend your vacation. Heath and forest are interspersed with fields. The village of Hooghalen is only 1 km from the park. Amusement parks, museums and a zoo, as well as many other fun day trips, can be found in the immediate vicinity.

Nature

Directly from the park, biking and hiking trails take you through the beautiful Drenthe countryside. Drenthe has much to offer throughout the year: in addition to the peace and nature, there are beautiful authentic villages. The many dolmens testify that this ancient cultivated land was inhabited thousands of years ago.

Many attractions are open all year round. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that during the period November to March, attractions have limited opening hours or are only open at weekends. Check the possibilities in advance or inquire at the reception.

In just 30 minutes, you can be in downtown Groningen. Here you can spend a fantastic day shopping and enjoying Groningen's hospitality. Assen can be reached in just 10 minutes, Emmen in 20 minutes. In Emmen, much of the shopping center is covered so that you can enjoy a day out even in bad weather.
